What are the requirements for Teaching Registration & Licensing?
  • Certified copies of Teaching qualification
  • Certified copies of valid Identification document
  • Evaluation of Qualification Report from Botswana Qualification Authority (BQA)

A teaching license is a professional practice document issued by BOTEPCO. It formally recognizes an educator’s legitimacy to teach in Botswana. It verifies that the holder has met all required qualifications, professional standards and code of ethics.

Teaching License is valid for a period of 60 months (5 years) for Citizens and 36 months (3 years) for non-citizens.

License renewal is done online through the Teacher Registration and Licensing System (TRLS)

An expired license ceases your membership.  Practicing with an expired license is an offence and attracts penalties. Teachers are not allowed to practice with an expired license.

Employment status (permanent and pensionable) does not exempt one from being licensed.

Licensing fees are P50 and P120 for Citizens and non-citizens respectively.

Licenses are issued digitally.

Yes. The membership subscription is paid annually.
