GBV Project – 2024

BOTEPCO Staff Donate to the Botswana Gender Based Violence Prevention and Support Centre

Botswana Teaching Professionals Council (BOTEPCO) staff donated food hampers, toiletries and household items to the Botswana Gender Based Violence Prevention and Support Centre (BGBVC) through their Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, the “A Council That Cares” Christmas Charity Drive.

Speaking at the donation handover ceremony, BOTEPCO Registrar Dr Raphael Dingalo said: “As a Council, we couldn’t have identified a better organisation than yourselves. BOTEPCO is all about community engagement for the betterment of the community, and through such CSR initiatives we aim to promote healthy families through education that will eventually lead to a society free of gender-based violence.”

The donation was received by the BGBVC Chief Executive Officer, Ms Lorato Moalusi, who thanked the Council for the thoughtful gesture, noting that it could not have come at a better time, as the Centre needs as much assistance as it can get to care for GBV victims.

For her part, BOTEPCO Manager: Corporate Affairs, Ms Mercy Rebaone Thebe, said the initiative was made possible by BOTEPCO staff, who donated all the goods from their own pockets. She said staff live by the belief that giving back to society must be a lifelong commitment that goes beyond financial contributions, hence their continued CSR efforts under the “A Council That Cares” initiative.
